Older Pool - losing about 1" a day

Postby VanHlebar » Mon 26 Jun, 2006 10:20

We just bought a house with a pool that is about 15-20 years old I would guess.

The issue is that we are losing water in the pool by about 1" a day or so. This seems to be a bit high to be just evaporation. We can tell that we need a new liner as it has been patched in many spots above the water line and it is pulling away from the sides of the pool in two or three locations. One location, in the corner is really really bad and water is behind the liner.

We have never owned a pool before and have no idea what the issue could be. I am concerned that it could be a leak in the plumbing and not just the liner.

How do you go about finding a leak like this? Are there companies that you can call for someone to check the pool for us?

Thanks for the help,
-Eric
