bubbles from return jets when pump is off

Postby Harkin70 » Wed 19 Aug, 2020 13:08

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone has some advice here...

I'm getting intermitting bubbles coming from the return jet, when the pump is off.... I usually notice them in the morning when I go to turn the pool on for the day... it's usually off for 8hrs and on for 16hrs.

I also hear a "glug, glug" sound from the heater and some bubbles going into the pump basket. The water in the pump basket is low in the morning when I turn it on.

I don't know if I'm losing water...as the water level does not reduce significantly.....

from what I understand is that the line is a sealed system and there should be no bubbles.... I don't remember seeing bubbles coming from the jet earlier this summer... it's been about a month now.. but very intermittent...

I can't explain the return bubbles while the pump is off except maybe excess chlorine gas from your chlorinator but if the pump basket drains back to the pool then you have an air leak.
Try turning your chlorinator off and see if it persists
Have you checked and lubricated the pump basket "O" ring in the lid
