pool water loss

six months ago the pool started to lose water. It fell until it was just below the filtration inlet valves. After refilling several times, the leak suddenly stopped. Now, after six months of not leaking, it has started again. There is no evidence of dampness of the ground around the inground pool. Has anyone any ideas of the possible cause and suggestions for correction
