leaking in the sand filter

Postby kevin123 » Sat 12 Apr, 2008 19:06

I just noticed that water came out from the top of the sand filter today. Does anyone know how to fix it ? Can I just seal it up from outside??

Thank you so much

you did not say what brand & model sand filter you have, but it could be as simple as replacing a gasket/o-ring that has worn out. you can type in this info & normally check diagrams to see what could be leaking or take it apart & see whats wrong.

Hi thank you so much for the quick reply

I just checked on the filter and the brand name is "hayward s240 filter"
If you google it, you could probably see the dragram of the filter.

Anyways, I think the problem might be the worn out O Ring(#4 in the diagram) since the water was from the gap between access cover(#3 in the dragram)and the filter tank head(#5 in the diagram). Do you have any idea where I could purchase the O ring from? Does Home Depot/Rona carry parts like that??

And is it possible if I replace the part by myself???

thank you so much....
