indoor concrete swimspa leaking

Postby hippiechicxx » Sun 30 Apr, 2006 23:31

I hope that someone out there can help us. In Feb '05 we hired somoeone to build a concrete swimspa inside of an existing sunroom. He used cheap materials and did shoddy work. He took off after he got our money, no where to be found. Now the pool is losing ~6 inches of water a day. The worst part is that we can't seem to find where all of the water is going. I fear that the foundation of the house could be getting affected, though we've found no evidence of that so far. We can't afford any major repair jobs after taking out loans to pay for the pool. Does anyone have any advice?

Waterproofing should be an integral part of the concrete and then a layer of waterproofing applied before the finishing layer.

There are some commercial waterproofing compounds available which can be applied to plaster or marcite surfaces, but these necessitate draining the pool first.
