leak in return?

Postby jrfan » Fri 02 Jun, 2006 13:05

Just opened my inground pool. I have a DE filter and Hayword pump. The pump has a clear lid above the strainer basket. When I start the pump it primes and runs without issue for approx 3-4 hours. After that amount of time I notice air building up under the clear lid on the pump. The jets in the pool "slow down". If I turn the pump off, wait a few seconds, and start it back up it's fine for another 3-4 hours. I don't see any air bubbles coming from the jets at any time. Any ideas????

you dont have a solid seal with the bsaket cover. Make sure you clean out any debris under the cover. If nothing there you may need new "o" ring to create solid seal. Those are cheap and easy repair.

Also try to lube the o ring with something like Magic Lube.
