Rough pool floor after resurface.
Replastered (premix marble light, brand: Marquis, color: Miami Blue) my inground pool 2 weeks ago. Brushing 2 to 3 times per day and testing and balancing the water daily. Today was the first day I went in the pool and the floor of the pool is very rough. It actually hurt my feet to walk on it. Is this normal? Is this part of the curing process? Will this get better over time? I hope so. Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Frank

Why were you brushing a fresh suface 2-3 times per day? Thats bound to expose agregate and roughen the surface. I would have increased the alkalinty to cause a hardening cure of the surface for a couple of weeks before doing anything else.

OMG, I was following the instructions of the Pinch a Penny Store. So, is there anything I can do at this point or am I SOL?

I think you maybe stuck now, I have never tried sanding in a full pool.

Re: Rough pool floor after resurface.
Teapot, I checked with the pool store and they can drain the pool and sand it smooth but they suggested to wait a little longer to see how the curing process goes. I am not holding my breath because it is very rough. I did not get a quote but I pretty much spent my entire budget on the resurfacing. I might have to live with the floor but my question is; would I be able to hand sand the steps without emptying the pool with a pumice stone or some other tool? Thanks again.

My best answer is probably, sorry to be vague but not personally done that but have only heard of others having some success. I think the pool store are right to say wait a bit for full curing. You can make the surface cure harder by overdoing the alkalinity for a while.
This article explains it very well.
