restoring swimming pool tile

My pool is currently drained...

My swimming pool has ceramic tiles at the water line. Over many years, mineral deposits have formed on the tile surface. I have decided to use "Walnut Shell Sandblasting Medium Grit (10 lb. per Box)" and a media blaster gun (along with an air compressor).

I was warned not to use sand because it would mar the glossy surface of the tile, so I got the softer walnut shell particles. Was I given good advice?

I have no idea if I have enough of the walnut shell grit. I would like to blast for as long as the 10 lb box lasts, then sweep it up and do again. Will that work or will it be pulverized too much?
