Pebbletec/Stonescape Colors

We are trying to decide which color and product to redo our pool surface with. We are looking at Stonescapes and Pebbletec and have been told by our contractors that going with a darker finish, like the black, increases the likelihood of a blotchy, inconsistent appearance and that it will appear too dark most times of the day. Anyone have any experience with using a black pebbletec type product?
