Pool surface looks Crackled

Postby britishkate » Mon 12 May, 2008 09:56

OUr pool has been empty for a week whilst they re place the tile and coping. Ive noticed this morning that the surface has a cracklure effect like old pottery.
Will this disappear when it is refilled or what do we need to do?

Thanks so much 8)

What kind of finish do you have? Plaster? If so, how old is the plaster? Small, thin plaster cracks are quite normal, especially in older pools, and shouldnt be noticeable once the pool is filled. However, if there are large they need to be grinded out and patched. Most of these cracks occur right after a pool is plastered and the pool isnt filled quickly enough. Plaster needs to cure underwater and if it is emptied in the first year or so these cracks can occur.
