So I have all new equipment. Viron pump, halo chlorinator, astral sand filter.
When I put it onto recirculate, I have heaps of pressure, but when I change the setting to filter to try and clean the pool, I get hardly any pressure.
What am I doing wrong?
All the gear, no idea

Halo chlorinator, *spamm* pump and astral sand filter. Everything is brand new.
I get heaps of pressure when on the recirculate setting, but very pop pressure on the filter. I keep in getting ‘pump protection’ warnings.
What am I doing wrong??

Viron pump is variable speed version?
Air trapped inside the filter need bleeding out?
On circulate you bypass the filter so yes you get the full pump flow without much restriction. Have you backwashed the filter?
You do not need much flow on filtration, just the right flow to turn the water over in a specific time and slower filtration is better filtration, we need to get away from this idea of massive flow and pressure on filtration its not needed, its counter productive and it wastes a huge amount of electricity and therefore money.

I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
