Help w/ my pool filter
First post. I have a 16' above ground. I also have a remote pool cleaner that does an excellent job of cleaning the floor until it is spotless. It gets up the fine sand or dirt that I see completely. So what I have noticed is that after I clean and the pump is running it will be dirty with fine dirt/sand within an hour. So I did a test. Turned off pump and cleaned the pool with remote. Was spotless. left the pump off for 7-8 hours and the pool was still spotless. Turned on the pump and after an hour or two the pool floor has the same fine debris again. I would guess that the sand filter is putting it into the pool?? Any help? This has been going on for a couple of years now. Just now trying to figure it out.

Re: Help w/ my pool filter
Sand can only filter so far, the best sand around 20 microns, average sand 30 microns. So fine dirt + too powerful pump and you just chase your tail all the time.
You could try Jolly gel or similar to form a fine gel surface in the filter to collect the fine stuff or change the the filter media to Dryden Aqua's AFM ng media which filters to 1 micron. Reducing the speed of the filtration pump will also help, slower filtration is better filtration and the saving in electric will pay for the modifications

I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
