Losing prime

Meshaw,

Check your pump for any leaks. Some common causes for this are the pump lid possibly cracking, pump lid o-ring, or one of the plumbing fittings that goes into or out of the pump. If your pump is connected with unions, you may need new o-rings for those. Any of these are pretty cheap and easy to fix.

With the pump running at a full prime, turn it off for a few seconds then turn it back on. Repeat this and observe the plumbing and pump lid. You should see water squirting/dripping out and this will let you know where the air is getting in.
