Hayward pump leaking

Postby tomtory » Mon 28 May, 2007 12:11

I have a Hayward Max-flo pump that is leaking from the bottom, I can not find a crack in the housing so I can only assume it is leaking from the seal between housing and the seal plate. I have tried to tighten the cap bolts but I am not sure of how much pressure to use. I do not want to crack the plate or the housing. BTW, This leak started after replacing some piping connections that were leaking at the pump, fix one leak another one starts. Any help is appreciated.

It sounds like the seal that the motor shaft goes through is bad. You can replace it yourself with parts either online or at your local pool store. It's less than $20.
