New Pump Wiring, please help:-)

Postby Leisha » Thu 31 May, 2007 19:05

k, we had a Hayward Power Flo 2 1 1/2 HP. pump that worked wonderfully for over 10 years. We ordered a new Hayward Power Flo 2 1 HP (could not find bigger).
Anyway, this new one did not come with a power cord, so we have taken the one off the old pump to use with the new one.
It has 3 wires...... Green , Black and White.
He's sure he has the Green and Black where it should be, but is not sure about the white one, can anyone help with this please?? :?

As I understand it, Hayward pumps can be wired for 110v or 220v. Assuming this is 120 volts, Green is ground, Black is "hot" (the juice!) and White is Neutral. Did the pump come with a manual or wiring diagram? Without seeing the wiring terminals on the pump it's a wild (and potentially dangerous) guess.

Since you are new to this you should take the pump, cable and all down to your local pool store/electrician and ask. They would probably tell you or even wire it up for free.
