plumbing question

I'm in the process of changing the pump and filter and am redoing the plumbing. The original system had a skimmer, a deep end water intake and a shallow end return line. The pool doesn't have a main drain. I was told at one time that I should turn the deep end water intake into a return line. Another person said that I should leave it as it is. What would be your advice, thanks.

A deep end water intake? I haven't heard of that before, but there are many things I haven't heard of. Maybe it was intended for a heater as that would be the coldest part of the pool.

IMO, I don't see any advantage to changing it to a return. I would leave it as is.
