Hi all, I'm new here.
Just bought this house that has a pool built in the 70s. There is a small pipe connected to the larger pipe coming from the main drain that we have no idea what is. It is connected to the side of the pipe coming from the main bottom drain, has a valve and it is going back to the ground. It is not connected (above the ground) to the skimmer, returns or any other pipes we can see above the ground.
Thanks for any help!!!

I have similar. But surprised the pipe goes back into the ground. Mine ends with a screw fitting after the valve.
If the same, it is for draining the pool with an external evacuation pump.
