Hi , My new to me pool that is about 20 years old, doesn’t have a non return valve in the piping and when I turn the filter off, the water flows back so hard it knocks the lid clean off the Skinner box - seriously.
2 questions, the piping is a bit tight, so can I fit the NRV between the pump and chlorinator ?
This will mean it will be mounted in a vertical pipe, is that ok ??
Also, I googled there are flapper valve and spring types, any recommendations ?
Thks

Where to put non return valve ??
Re: Where to put non return valve ??
Also, For some stupid reason, I am thinking of fixing the piping up myself, I assume that it is simpler to replace whole sections , especially when there are many bends and cuts and especially when the 40mm pipe is glued straight into the elements such as chlorinator ??

Re: Where to put non return valve ??
The vertical pipe straight off the pump should be fine. I think a spring type valve would be best as a flapper would need to be horizontal also I've seen them break off
Ideally all component parts should have unions so they can be removed for maintenance
