Hey all - my old pool heater (which was pretty old) finally had the chlorine eat through the copper. I run pretty high chlorine levels - I have an auto chlorinator.
Is there a pool heater that anyone would recommend that can handle higher chlorine levels, or Ph our of balance if I am remiss in my pool duties?
If not, I guess I could have a 'bypass loop' put in so that water only goes through the heater when it is needed. Any thoughts on that?
Finally, I see new heaters that are called heater/pumps - what is the difference between those and what my old sta-rite heater likely was?

I think you'll find most pool heaters now are copper free as copper in the pool causes staining. Check out brochures
Heat pumps are electric air source pumps that take the heat out of the air. They are very efficient and get approximately 5 x the electrical input. Say 2kw heater would give out 10kw of heat
A bypass loop is a good idea as it will allow maintenance of the heater without putting the pool out of action

Any recommendations on a Natural Gas pool heater that would be good for a 18 x 34 foot 20,000 gallon pool?
