replacing 2 pumps for 1 pump
I have a 10,000 gallon pool built 20yrs ago. It has 2 pumps 1hp, one that operates the pool pop ups and the other operates the circulation. Both pumps need replacing so to save energy i was wondering if i could install 1 larger pump and control both pop ups and circulate the water? The problem is that there is 2 skimmer baskets, one that is the usual type that you open the lid and clean the basket and the other that you open the lid and theres another lid inside that seals that basket. Could i install a jandy valve connecting both skimmer baskets and a jandy valve connecting both pressure lines? The way its connected no the pool pop ups dont go through the filter and obviously the water circulation pump does. any advice would be appriciated. thank you

Re: replacing 2 pumps for 1 pump
It's not normal to have two pumps and for 10k,1hp should be sufficient My 10k UK gallons uses less than 1hp
You can connect together just use valves to balance the flow
If you are talking about 3 way Jandy valves I wouldn't use them. Just single valves so that you can balance better
Bigger pumps aren't really necessary as they tend to force water through the filter. Slower filtration is better
What do the pop ups do
