Do I have a pressure problem?

Postby drjsparker » Wed 27 Oct, 2021 21:41

We’re building a pool. The plumber set all of the equipment on Saturday and set the pressure on the filter at 21. When I checked earlier today, it was at 18. My plumber tells me that’s ok. Is that correct?

I could only disagree, the pressure on my system is 0.5 PSI but thats setup to be phenomenally effecient. Most pools run around 7-10PSI. Above that you are just creating additional pressure which is mostly friction, it wears out the pump and costs a fortune in electricity worsens the water quality as you get more dirt breakthrough in the filter so not achieving very much.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.

I should specify that our pool is not operational yet. We only just got the equipment set an plumbing connected. This is the point where they initially said the pressure at 21 psi and as of this morning it’s at 17.

I’m just needing to know if this is normal.

The more the pressure goes down the better. Hopefully when it has all settled down it will be lower
