Pentair Filter Leaking
Pentair Filter Leaking
Hi, my filter has been leaking from the drain pipe when the pump runs. Pool guy came to fix it and put a ball valve on the end of the pipe, called it fixed (I wasn't home at time of repair). I called to ask why it was leaking in the first place, this is like adding a second faucet to a leaky faucet versus fixing the leak. They said this is the right fix as long as it is leaking from the pipe, not the bottom of the filter. Home warranty is paying, should I keep pushing and get another contractor or is this a proper fix?

I take it that you have a multiport valve
If so then it's your spider gasket inside the MPV that is letting by
The ball valve is belt and braces and will do the job, just remember to open it when backwashing or pumping to waste

Re: Pentair Filter Leaking
Seconded, possibly a lazy repair but you'll get reliability.
Personally get rid of the multi port and fit something better like the pentair full flo XF and then reduce the pump speed to save you a fortune in electricity and improve filtration. That said the fullflow are a bit fragile like a lot of pentair equipment nowadays so careful handling required, alternatively use the pentair slide valve.

I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
