Hi there,
Hoping someone can help - I have an above ground pool and recently connected an Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump (Model SF90220-1). Im finding that the pressure on the pump doesn't raise at all when in filter mode and water isn't being pushed back into the pool via the return. I have followed the setup as explained in the documentation, I've backwashed and rinsed the media inside the pump itself, double checked each of the connections for air and run the troubleshooting steps to vent air from the system.
Upon connecting the pump, I did a backwash for about 3-4 mins, followed by a rinse. The pressure rises to the top of the green but then instantly drops back down to around 0 during the backwash & rinse.
I am finding that the pressure does rise in other modes on the 6-way valve but in filter mode nothing happens. Am I missing something here? Can anyone more well-versed than I give any suggestions or guidance? I've run the pump on filter for a couple of hours and there's nothing coming out of the return.
Thanks in advance,
Byrnsie

Re: Intex Krystal Clear Pump Issue
On backwash there isnt likely to be any pressure.
Are you saying no flow on filtration?

Correct, I get brief moment of good pressure (top of the green zone) and then in falls away back to zero.

Forget pressure for a bit, its only friction, concentrate on flow. Do you have flow from the returns?
My system, runs at 0.5psi so I had to fit a lower reading gauge but the flow is perfect. Stupid pool industry hasnt worked out that flow is more important.

I have no flow coming into the skimmer or out through the return - I left it run for a couple of hours yesterday and nothing moved through the pump at all

Ok have you looked at the pump impeller, they often swallow stuff and get blocked so pumping stops and it just spins?

Re: Intex Krystal Clear Pump Issue
Hi all - quick update on this, I ordered another pump this morning, immediately after ordering, I did further troubleshooting - I moved some of the hoses around and used shorter hoses between skimmer & pump and pump & return which has resulted in a steady flow of water through the jet on the return. I had noticed that the pump was sucking water from the skimmer at quite a high rate which drained the skimmer almost entirely leading to air being brought into the pump and it would then stop working.
This morning on my daily research on common issues around this I found the flap on the skimmer wasn't attached properly which was the issue around regulating the flow of water into the skimmer. Pump now sounds a lot quieter and there's a solid jet of water coming through the return.
Fingers crossed I'm on the home stretch with this, albeit with a spare pump on it's way from Amazon!

Thats good, the skimmer weir doesnt really regulate anything, just prevents collected stuff coming back out of the skimmer into the pool.
