I have an inground pool. I look at my pump and noticed no water was flowing. Turn off the pump and took off the top lid. The water was extremely hot. I drained the water but could not take out the basket. The inside of the pump was warped. I drained the pump, ran a snake through the underground pipes just to make sure nothing was blocking it. Removed the pipes between pump, filter and heater and no blockage. Replace the O-ring on the top of the lid, filled up the pump again and its still not priming. The pump does turn on, its just not working.
The pump is probably over 10 years old. Does it need to be replaced?
What I currently have is a waterway pump with AO smith motor

Re: Pump Trouble
You say the pump turns on, do you hear or see it running
The fact that you say the water was hot and the pump warped leads me to believe that the pump wasn't running and the windings just heated up
If it is then it's best to replace but don't oversize and get a variable speed pump
