I've purchased a 2500 gph pump from intex (Model 633) but the fittings that attach to the pool are much larger than the omes for the smaller pump. I'm going to cut the holes in the liner to fit and see what happens. If I don't rui it, a sand filter is in the workd.

Were you able to cut the holes in the liner with no problems? I have a 15x4 intex metal frame pool that came with the 1 1/4 hoses and I'm upgrading pump but hoses at 1 1/2...I'm also thinking of cutting holes larger.
I previously did the same to another pool and had no problems but this was an older/smaller pool.
please advice if it worked...I would think this would be a better fit.

thanks!

I also have an intex pool, not sure of the size but it's almost 7000 gallons. My motor died as well and I purchase a Predator pump from AquaQuip however the hose for the pump is smaller than the hose end on the pool so I used the Intex hose which is now colapseing because the motor is so powerful. Any ideas?

The best way to go about fixing your problem is to go on ebay and buy a ribbed / braided hose. These will not collapse even if you stand on it.

I have the 24' pool as well. I bought a Hayward 2HP 22" sand filter system. I had to take some fittings off the pool and go to my local lowes to get the parts to fit, but overall it ended up costing me $300.00 for the filter / pump, and $6.70 for the adapter parts from lowes. Once I had everything hooked up I felt like the mad scientist about to turn on his machine, finally! The pool was green, and within six (6) hours and after some clarifier, shock, and algae treatment, the entire pool was clear. The pressure from the outlet line from the pump put moving water clear to the other wall and you could watch it bounce off and stir up the dirt off the bottom. After 6 hours the pool water was clear. I fought this stupid old pump from the mfg. for two years, and finally, its fixed. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

I just purchased a 2500 filter pump for my Intex metal frame. I hooked up the pool plunger valves on both ends. Now my intake valve is making a loud squealing noise. Has anyone figures out how to make this stop without removing it from the pool? Its kind of loud at night when I am trying to run the pump. Any help is appreciated.

I have an Intex metal frome 15' x 48" pool and am tired down here in south Texas of the hot water. Last year algea was a problem due to the low flow of my Intex pump. I bought a Haywood LX Power pump with filter on sale. They go from about $245.00 to $269.00. I got it on sale $189.00 including tax. It was a specail sale by Leslie's Pools. It has 1 1/2" hoses and my intex with the black reducer hose which sticks out on the outside of the pole makes the return hole only 1". I managed to get it temporally hooked up but bubbles and not enough flow because of the small size hole makes the pump pulsate. I was told to buy a "Y" fitting and put a hose over the top facing down with the old blue screen on the end plus hook up the wall return to the "Y" fitting. Once the water from the wall starts flowing the gravity fed pump should pull water from the hose over the top. It is best to hard plum everything but just trying it out first is the way to go. If it doesn't work I plan on cutting a biggerr holein the liner but will buy a sheet of steel and attach each end to two of the "T" uprights. I will bend the metal by curving around each pole and then putting two nuts and bolts on each side to hold it in place. The sheet will cover the return hole and be cut out along with the hole in the liner and become a re-enforcement like a steel walled pool. This way there is something to hold on to.

I have read where a few people have cut the hole bigger but never have seen a photo of the hole cut or fitting used to replace the old one.

Folks,
I just upgraded to the 2500 gph pump and which came with the adapters. I through the adapters in the trash...not really they are going on ebay. I just took my time and cut the liner. You are only expanding the hole about a 3/8 of an inch. I also bought an extra flat rubber seal to put one the interior and exterior of the liner when i installed the fittings. I have no issues and it works awesome. I hope this helps. Happy swimming.

If you have issues with the pump and houses not fitting the inlets and outlets properly. I was not comfortable weakening the integrity of the pool side by cutting the hole larger. So, i simply took the hose off the inlet and looped it over the side of the pool through the hole where the liner and the pole meet. It worked great all summer. You have to tie it together. You do not need to do this with the outlet side.
