Pump pressure starts great then deteriorates to near zero

Postby DesertPoolOwner » Sun 30 Mar, 2008 13:36

Hi all, found this forum, thought maybe a few experts here could help out.

When it first start, everything seems to be working very well -- back pressure is about 15psi. After 30 minutes or so, the back pressure (as deteriorates to near zero. This happens regardless of how I configure the skimmers and/or pool vac. I have even run it with the pool vac inlet full open and it happens.

At first I thought it was an issue with the pump -- so detached it and cleaned it up but that didn't help (its a 1 yr old pump, too). Backflushed and cleaned out the sand filter as well with no change.

There does seem to be more air bubbles in the lines -- maybe I have a in-line air leak?

I have quite a few mesquite trees dropping debris into the pool, so this may be some kind of debris issue, but if it was a clog, why would the flow rate / pressure start off fine?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...

Jonathan
