"Pump Filter" light on

Just replaced the motor a couple of weeks ago. Just got rayvac fixed from worn out parts. Now, when the pool comes on, the "Pump Filter" red light comes on, in the control box. So far, everything seems to be working inspite of the light. I did notice that apparently when my husband last cleaned pump basket, about a 2" piece of the top rim of the basket has broken off. Any ideas as to what would cause that red light to come on or where we should start investigating? Pool is 8 yrs old., gunite, cartridge filter (not DE).
