spa check vave question

I am installing an elevated spillover spa next to my pool and have read somewhere that the spa will try to drain back into the pool unless you use a check valve. The pool pump will be piped to the spa to circulate and filter the water, and a seperate pump will handle the spa jets. Does anyone know where the check valve needs to be installed and what type I should use.
