Skimmer piping leak

When pump turned on pipe from skimmer to pump running only half pipe of water. put a vacuun on line there seems to be no blockage. Would a crack in line preobably cause this problem? this is an 18x36 inground pool about 25 years old. First time I've had this problem.. Thanks for any help..

Check the lid seal and the fitting screwed into the front of the pump. Most likely places to look for a leak.

Have found problem. Stainless 11/2 inch ball valve leaking at seat. In the process of changing out. Thanks
