Pool pump tripping

We've had the pool and it's pump since last summer, worked fine then and up to today. For some reason, today it has started tripping the breaker. I know a lot of rain can cause this, but we haven't had any rain in over a week. Why would it just start doing this now, would that point to the pump itself? How to test?
