Whilst I have an in depth knowledge on pools and pool management, I have a question that needs a specific expert opinion.
Pool pump capacitors are very expensive. Mine is a 16uf which is fading fast. My question is, can I use a universal capacitor ie for washing machine or dishwasher as long as it is rated 16uf? They are much, much cheaper.

The value is 16 microFarad. That is only thing that matters. I beleive there is a starting and running part. Than the physical size, to fit in the motor packerhead. I have replaced it recently. Paid about 13 bucks.
