Cloudy greenish water

Hi- we moved last year into a house with a pool. I am learning but no expert. This is my first time posting. My water was ok for about a week after we finally cleared it up from opening but then a lot of green algae was in the bottom so I swept it all up, which made the water very cloudy green and then I added a bottle of algaecide and turn d chlorine up. This worked perfectly last year, but not this time. Water is still very cloudy- can not see to the bottom of the deep end. I also backwashed a couple times. I brought the water to the pool store and they said all the levels were good. They said if it doesn't clear up by tomorrow to add a clarifier. Does this sound like a good Idea? I don't want to make things worse. It's 30,000 gallons with a liner.

Don't put any more algaecide in
You need to Slam (Shock Level and Maintain) relative to your CYA in Chlorine / CYA Chart
Read the instructions carefully and exactly
Turn off your SWG and get some liquid chlorine (bleach sodium hypochlorite)
It may take a while but persist

Because of your quote I assumed you had a Salt Water Chlorine Generator
I apologise if I'm wrong but if you have another type of chlorine dosing, turn it off

Oh sorry- not salt water. Just chlorine. I use a chlorinator. My pool guy came over today and shocked it this morning. Was very cloudy still this evening. Hoping it will clear up by morning. If not, should I still follow above?

Slam stands for shock level and maintain, a single dose won't do the job
Yes follow the above after getting correct levels
How do you chlorinate, liquid chlorine, pucks or granules. Pucks and granules contain CYA and when they build up render your chlorine ineffective, as shown in Chlorine / CYA Chart
The only way to lower it is a partial drain and refill
For every 10 ppm Free Chlorine (FC) added by Trichlor, it also increases Cyanuric Acid (CYA) by 6 ppm.
For every 10 ppm FC added by Dichlor, it also increases CYA by 9 ppm.
For every 10 ppm FC added by Cal-Hypo, it also increases Calcium Hardness (CH) by at least 7 ppm
You really need to get a test kit (Taylor K2006C or TF100) as regular testing is required
It's difficult to have a pool person on hand 24/7 and what they would charge you will pay for the test kit
