Green Algae on bottom of pool

Postby maxie » Tue 05 Jun, 2007 09:58

We opened our pool last Monday, Memorial Day, the sample showed we only needed cholorine added. So, we did, then it started turning green on bottom. We took another sample in and they sold us algaecide and told us to put 3 packs of shock in and then follow next day with the algaecide. We did, still green on bottom. We took another sample in on Sunday, they told us to us we had increased phosphates. Sold us Phosphates Free and told us to use 20 ounces. We did, still green on bottom. Now, we drained the pool down to right below the skimmer, added two more shocks and still green on bottom. Help, what type of algae is this?

It could be stained green from calcified algae/scale, brush it. Keep your chlorine levels up.
