Hi all, I filled our 16000 litre (approx 3500 imp' gallons) above ground pool (15 foot dia) and placed an order for some pool chemicals the other week. I am still waiting for the chemicals and the pool water is now very green. Should I attempt to clean the water with the chemicals (if and when they arrive) or should I empty the pool and start again with freash water or should I do a combination i.e. drain 50% off and replace with tap water?
Some of the posts on this web site advocate the use of domestic bleach in a pool - is this safe and are all domestic bleachs the same (i.e. H2O2 hydrogen peroxide).
Many thanks, in anticipation, from the east side of "the pond"
Simon
Should I replace the water or fight the green stuff?
Get some bleach in there pronto. Regular Chlorox is usually 6% strength. Pool store chlorine is anywhere from 10% to 12.5%.
Some off brand bleaches are anywhere from 3%-5.25%.
You'll need about a gallon of 6% to shock your pool. Run your pump 7/24 until it clears.
Test and add bleach if necessary, daily.
