Hairy alge? at waterline

Have greenish-gray hairy growth on tile 1/2' above waterline in colored gunite pool. Only way to get rid of is brush, but back in two days. Don't know what it is and neither does local pool supply dealer.

Sounds like mold or mildew, to me.

I would use an acid based tile soap and scrub it. Rinse well. Then I would use a strong chlorine solution on it and let it sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing.

Make sure your caulking is in good shape and recaulk if necessary.
