Black algae in tile grout on steps

Postby tjsdwhit » Thu 15 May, 2008 21:26

I have random spots of black algae in my tile grout on my steps. I do not want to drain my pool and I have tried rubbing with a chlorine tablet with no luck. Does anyone have another solution?

You can use an algae brush (metal) to brush the spots. That should take the protective outer layer off and then you can rub with the tabs.

You can also take a jackknife and gently scrap away the top layer. If you see dark green instead of black it's ready for a rubbing with a tab.
