Pool is starting to turn green

Hi,

I am new to this forum, but need some advise. I own a pool home in Orlando and live in th UK, my current guests have left my villa as the pool is going green, my manager says she checked the filters on Friday and it was ok. She now says that the guests were leaving pool toys in the pool overnight and this was creating algaline and turining it green! Can this be true, I thought it took some time for a pool to turn green. I feel it is more likely that whe hasn't been maintaining it properly, but I know absolutely nothing about pool maintainance.
