pool algae

Hi, I put some formula 500 algaeside in my pool, and it turned my water a bluish color. I cant see the bottom of my pool, but the water is no longer green. Do I need to turn my pump off now? I put the algaside in about 24 hours ago. I know I need to fill my pool up to the top with water to vacumn to waste, but how do I fill my hose up? Can anyone help me??? Does the algae go to the bottom of the pool if I turn my pump off??
