Why is my pool purple?

It could be from a combination of high copper and cyanuric acid (CYA) levels. Get a good test kit -- the Taylor K-2006 -- and test your water parameters including CYA. Have the copper level tested at a pool store. You can do partial drain/refill to lower the CYA level.

The other possibility is manganese which you can also have tested at the pool store. A metal sequestrant can be used to help keep any metals from staining or discoloring the water.
