High PSI, but why?

Postby PoolxNoobie » Fri 14 May, 2021 16:47

Pool specs:
16x32 in ground
Hayward EC65A pump
One return jet
One skimmer

Ok I’ll try and keep this short. First time pool owner had it “professionally opened” for the season. I say this because I have had other problems with the pump after opening, which I feel we’re over looked and I was given no information about maintenance after informing them i’m clueless. That’s a different story. My question is why is my psi so high? It’s riding around 30psi. Which is a lot according to the manual. I recently took it apart gave it a deep clean put it back together and add more DE. Still high. Is there something I’m missing?

Normally it's a dirty filter
Do you have algae as that will quickly block the filter even after cleaning
Try bypassing the filter to see if it is the filter
Let's have your numbers (CYA is very important)
FC:
TC:
pH:
TA:
CH:
CYA:

A lot of lingo there. I have no idea how to bypass. And I don’t know how to get those numbers other than pH and chlorine.

Do you not have a Multi Port Valve (MPV) connected to your filter?
This video shows one with a DE filter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAdHmCUZl-U
Take a sample to the pool store

No my filter does not have that. It’s a Hayward EC65A.

I’ll take a sample tomorrow.
