Locating buried actuator valve?

Hi

I purchased a house with a pool equipped with in floor cleaning system. It was working fine initially, but recently having problems with some of the jets. When I tried to take a look at the actuator valve, I couldn't locate it. It is not marked on the pool plan and the company which built it went bankrupt. I think the valve is buried somewhere in the landscaped area. Is there any way to locate the valve without digging whole backyard. Any help is appreciated.
