Capacitor Exploded - Why?

2hp, 2-speed pump used for spa. brand new motor. installed, turned on, impeller up to speed and bam, capacitor exploded. breaker did not trip. anyone know what is going on?

Infant mortality. There was probably a defect in the capacitor or maybe even the motor. If you replace it and it happens again, then it is probably a motor defect.
