Replaced capacitor and now it's smoking

My Pool: 16 x 30 inground gunite sports pool (5.5 deep in middle)

Replaced capacitor and now it's smoking

We just replaced the capacitor on our pool pump motor and when we turned it on, it started smoking. The capacitor has 2 terminals.

It's knackered winding by the sound of it.
