My Pool: 75 cm volume, Rectangular. Latex lining. Poltank pt-600 sand filter and a .75kW pump.

Opening the filter and water gushes out!

Hi all,

I have been tasked with changing the sand on my dad's filter. I closed all the three valves (leaftrap intake, side intake and bottom intake.)

I set the multi-port valve to 'closed' and unplugged the power cable. When I unscrew to top lid, water gushes everywhere indefinitely. I don't know where it's drawing from and how it gets through the 'closed' multiport valve. After about 5 minutes I forced the lid back on and screwed it down again.

What am I doing wrong? Is this normal?

Have you tried setting the MPV to BYPASS which cuts out the filter
