pool plumbing

Postby seanpatrick2000 » Fri 25 Dec, 2020 01:24

Hi, I recently bought a home with an in ground pool. I am new to pool ownership and I have a question my pool service doesn't seem to be able to answer. there is a PVC pipe on the side of the pool above the water line, I assume this is a filling line. I can't seem to see how to fill the pool from the automated control, Jandy one touch, there is no menu item to fill the pool. I have been using the garden hose. what should I look for to use the built in fill line?

Probably an overflow line

there is a big square overflow port in the side of the pool also it's about 4x2 inches the port I'm talking about is a 1/2 pvc pipe it's not big enough for an overflow line

That big overflow port that you mention could be a skimmer

So you are now the expert? an overflow pipe only needs to trickle out the extra. Too large and it would pickup on splashout all the time. Without posting photos we, Dennis and I are doing our best.

well I didn't want to offend anyone, I'm not an expert but I have been in a lot of pools I know what a skimmer is. and pools that have a fill line look just like the line I'm wondering about. There are three ports above the water line in my pool, I'll try and post pictures, one I know is the skimmer is the largest of the three, there is a 4x2 port I think is the overflow port and the third 1/2 pvc pipe I think is a fill line.
