Pool cover sheds

Postby beanPoolOwner » Sat 06 Mar, 2021 13:45

I have purchased a cheap bubble pool cover from Amazon. It is great to warm the pool, but it has started to shed small pieces of its blue plastic. I find it in my pump filter. Here's a picture. There are usually a lot more plastic bits than this (I had removed most before taking the pic) :

Should I be worried about this? Should I bin this cover and buy a new one? Or do all pool cover shed a bit, and it's not a big deal?

Quality covers are more UV resistant plastics, geobubble is a good quality option. Yes yours looks fit for the bin. The low cost options only manage 2-3 seasons.

Hey sorry for the late reply, I didn't receive a notification.

The pool cover is only 1 year old.

Thanks for your reply. Do you think there's a risk of damaging the pool if I keep it for 1 more season?

I don't think you will. My thick thermal cover deteriated the same and it all collected in the pump basket
