Replacing pool filter

Postby dongiulio » Sun 05 Dec, 2021 06:48

I tried them all, I can't fix my bestway sand filter (HDPE) in any solid way.

I need to replace the filter tank, and with it I guess the valve selector needs to go too.

I need to pick a size a producer and a model for the new filter.

My pump is the one from this kit :https://bestwaystore.it/accessori/pompe-di-filtraggio/pompa-filtro-a-sabbia-11-355-l-h

(The broken tank is that too) I found no details about the pump except that it will do 11355 liters per hour.

The old tank broke because I installed a system to heat the water and that included a shrinkage of the section of the pipe, so pressure increased and tank broke.

I since changed the system for heating and the shrinkage is way less now.

But I'm considering picking a polyester laminate tank, that seem more resistant to pressure and easier to fix (if you are familiar with polyester laminate).

In Europe i found these two Spanish products

https://coralfiltros.com/producto/alaska/

And

https://www.productosqp.com/catalogo/fi ... nados.html

I'm not sure what's the difference and how to pick, and which size to pick.
The price seems good and lower than other brands so I don't know if It's a good buy.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to pick

Thanks

Giulio

Can't advise on products
You need to check the recomended flow through the filter to match your pool and the go for a much larger filter because slower filtration is better

Out of interest and before I give any recommendations, can you give the size of your pool, dia of the plumbing, dimension of the old filter and if possible the wattage of the pump?
More later.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.

Hello,

Sure.

So the current pool is a bestway approx 180x375 cm.

It's a temporary pool, I'll replace with something more stable and big as soon as I find someone who can built it. Final will be approx 14 m3, 280x440 cm (outer dimensions).

The pump reports 500w absorption.

Pipes are currently the standard bestway 38 mm, but I plan to update all to 50 mm polietilene.

There's a shrink in the system caused by the chlorine maker not sure but I thin it goes down to some 32mm.

The system is in the pic attached. The red pipes go to the heat exchanger and they are attached to the main flow through that monster 2" brass with a valve that regulates the partial flow to the exchanger.

In the picture the pump is currently not connected to the pipes, since it leaks in using a different pump/filter. This is the one I want to use
