Intex Saltwater System Issues

Postby TopBanana » Sun 07 Aug, 2022 08:59

Hi! I'm new the the forum and a relative newbie to pools (this is our 3rd year).

We have a 14' round above ground that we converted to saltwater w/ an Intex ECO7111 saltwater system w/ filter. It's been working flawlessly until last week.

It threw a "low salt" code but I've confirmed that the salt is NOT low per test strips. The main issue is since it says "low salt", it will not activate the electrodes & produce chlorine in that error mode.

I did inspect the electrode and discovered the end of the plastic frame that holds the titanium plates parallel was broken, so they've been rigged them in place while a new one is being sent.

When I first turn on the system, the working light flashes then goes solid and I can see bubbles coming off the plates meaning that it's producing chlorine. Then the low salt alarm comes on and the bubbles stop.

Can anyone tell me WTF is actually going on? Is it all due to an issue with the electrode and a new one will fix it? Or is something else afoot?

Thanks in advance!!

Either a high resistance or a low resistance is sensed by the unit so it shuts down to protect the power supply.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
