TOO MUCH AIR!!

Postby juno1996 » Sat 17 May, 2008 21:01

I have a new in-ground with Hayward pump and cartridge filter system.

I am CONSTANTLY letting the air out of the release valve at the top of the filter unit. Seriously, 3-4 times a day and it takes 10-20 seconds for all the air to be released.

How the heck is so much air getting trapped in the system? Will it eventually lessen as the pool "breaks in"?

More importantly, is there some sort of gizmo that will release the air without releasing water? If so, I'll buy it - don't care what it costs!

Is there air in the pump- can you see bubbles through the pump lid?

Yes, I often see tiny air bubbles floating around on the pump window.

You may have a suction side leak and could be from the pump lid. Make sure the o-ring is clean and lubed. Air being sucked in the system is probably geting trapped at the top of the filter.
