Suction loss with attached vacuum plate

Postby bbujak » Fri 12 Jul, 2019 20:49

I have an inground pool with no drains. When I put the plate in the skimmer to attach the vacuum hose, I lose suction within a few seconds. The water stops coming from the water return.
I thought maybe it was because the nozzle on the water return was missing, but I replaced it with no effect.
I had the pool liner replaced last year and havnt been able to open the pool until now because I had to replace the pump, and fix a leak. I can finally use the pool and cant vacuum it.
Any help is appreciated.

It's an air leak, poorly fitting plate, cracked or something put it is letting in air so the water stops.
Are you filling the vacuum hose completely with water before connecting, best way to do this is to hold the vacuum hose over the return nozzle and the flow will fill the hose for you but use your hand to stop the water running out before you connect to the skimmer
